      Carly Blackburn

Carly graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) Honours degree in 2022. She was presented with both the Ruth Christie and Anne O Brien awards, which recognise the student with the highest scores in both clinical practice and written examinations. She has 3 years of physiotherapy experience, working in the largest teaching hospital in the Republic of Ireland, St James’ Hospital. Additionally, Carly is a certified Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute and has been delivering clinical Pilates classes for the past 2 years.

Her interest in the field of pelvic health began during a student placement in Ireland’s largest maternity hospital, and further grew when working alongside gynaecology patients and medical teams in St. James Hospital’s surgical wards. During her time on the gynaecology team, she developed a new patient service for postoperative sexual health and wellbeing alongside the clinical nurse specialist.

Carly has experience working with women in all stages of life including; antenatal, postnatal, perimenopause, post menopause and post gynaecology/pelvic surgery. She has also completed further training in London with Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) to assess and treat pelvic floor conditions such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain.

Carly is passionate about women’s health, and enjoys sharing this with her patients. Her treatment approach is patient centred, evidence-based and holistic. Her aim is to empower patients to take charge of their symptoms, and improve their quality of life.

Outside of work, Carly enjoys exercising in the gym and Pilates studio, as well as cooking new recipes and listening to podcasts about anything and everything!
